solve -y/5=5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know how to isolate the variable y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i dont :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well the idea is to get rid of whatever is in the denominator. Do you know how to do that? The basic idea is you want to get y by itself.

i hate to say no...i just started college and have been out of school for 20 yrs

It's okay :) . Remember. o get rid of a denominator multiply both sides by the same number. The denominator then cancels out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so x/2 = 2 Multiply by 2 on both sides to get: x=4

Try the same thing on your question :) .
