what is the formula of converting. please give examples
Converting what?
length and distance
what units are you working with /
foot, inches, meter miles and yard
\[1[\text{mi}]=1609.344[\text m]=1760[\text{yd}]=5280[\text{ft}]=63360[\text{in}]\]
yea but what the formula. i will be tested for this. my profesor will give me one of the conversion and then the rest is up to me.
i have provided the formula ,
lets take an example , say you have 3 miles and you want to convert to inches using the formula \[1[\text{mi}]=63360[\text{in}]\] \[3\times1[\text{mi}]=3\times63360[\text{in}]\] \[3[\text{mi}]=3\times63360[\text{in}]=190080[\text {in}]\]
Taking Uncle's example of 3 miles to inches: \[3\cancel{mi}*\frac{5280\cancel{ft}}{1\cancel{mi}}*\frac{12in}{1\cancel{ft}}=190080in\] That's a general method for performing just about any conversion...you just need to know up front how many feet at in a mi, inches in a foot, etc.
that so confusing
My post or Unkle's? What's confusing about it? If you learn the method above you can convert just about anything. It turns it into a simply multiplication and division problem in which the unneeded units simply cancel out. If all of that's confusing you then you're screwed for the test :/
converting is hard. i need to knwo an easy rule to remember
