(3x-6)(3x+5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i tried using foil buttt it says it wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what foil????

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

you need multiplie term by term

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first outside inside last

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so than will get ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9x-30??? idk!

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

9x^2 +15x ... continue it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

( 3x-6) (3x+5)=0 9x^2 +15x -18x-30=0 3x^2-x-10=0 d=121 ......> x1=2 x2=-10/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok the fist two steps i got but the 3rd??? 3x^2-x-10?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it! im so bad at this!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok I'll explain step by step : \[9x^2 + 15x-18x-30=0 ( \div 3 ) \] \[3x^2 -x-10=0 ( the main equation)\] then we calculate the d ( featured) d=b^2-4 ac = 121 \[\sqrt{d}=11\] \[x1=(-b-\sqrt{d})/2a = -10/6\] \[x2= (-b+\sqrt{d})/2a = 2\]

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so the -10/6 you need to simplifie again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-10/6 = -(10/6) = -(5/3) !!
