can someone help me write an equation for the tangent line of a curve? the question will be posted below..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know the quotient rule?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. i took the derivative, but i dont know how to use the point slope form next.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

remember your derivative is the slope of the tangent line. in other words y(prime)=m

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you need y(prime) @ the given x value.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so when i get y(prime) what do i do next?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you need to find y(prime) at your x value, so substitute your x value and that will be the slope of your tangent line. then plug these values into point slope form and solve for y intercept form

sweet that worked! can i ask another question to you?
