Are you able to ask general Math Questions, to get help on concepts and/or formulas (Theorems) or do they need to be specific math problems?
You're fine.
they can be general :)
Math-related problems are OK!
Calculus - Differentiation of Formulas
that's ok to :)
Alright, shoot :)
I understand the formuls and have them pretty much memorized my problem is when you are looking at a problem and you can see that it can be solved in a couple of ways how do you approach it?
well, you can try the one's that seem the easiest for you to understand or try them all with a few sample questions
If you're talking about integrals, it's hard to say. You really just need to practice a lot of integrals so you can quickly identify which method will be most effective. Because they're not always as straightforward as they might seem. Derivatives are quite the opposite, you just bite right into them! :) Choosing one method over another usually results in a couple extra/less steps. I dunno, it's hard to say exactly how you should tackle a problem when your being so general XD hah
|dw:1349590371735:dw|I am sure I am dealing with Derivatives. For this section I am stuck on the following: Find an equation of the normal line to the parabola \[y = x ^{2} - 5x + 4\] that is parallel to the line \[x - 3y = 5\] which solves to \[y = (x-5)/3\] should look something like the attached drawing ( sorry if it is bad it is my first one. So am I looking for the tangent line (derivative) where they intersect?
