three charges +Q fixed at circle at center of one circle +Q is placed and at center of second circle -Q is placed both cases are in equillibrium but there is difference in types of equillibrium explain that difference?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

one equilibrium is more stable than the other

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think +Q is stable and -Q is not staable

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

why would +Q be stable , positive charge repels positive charge

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if we move +Q toward any +Q it will repel and charge will come to its orignal position wheares its not true for -Q it will be attracted

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

there is no attraction between the positive charges , if a +Q moves towards the center it will repel and bounce off into space, there is no reason for stability where is it , if it is +Q moves away from the center , it keeps moving when the +Q moves towards the -Q the opposing +Q will repel it , when the +Q moves away the -Q pulls it back
