If a is positive in y=ax^2+bx+c then the graph will have a minimum point and if a is negative then the graph will have a maximum value.

I mean maximum point....... So, is "a" positive or negative y=x^2+4x-7

Local minimum at -2 and value will be -11. This comes directly from Calculus - Maxima and Minima
