@amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

it would help if there was some specific information included

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I attached a picture of the question and I started answering it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For y = x^2 + 6x − 16

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you say this opens down, why?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

for large values of x (positive or negative); the "x^2" term dominates the landscape. So we can compare this to y=x^2 at the ends does y=x^2 open up? or down?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have a graphing app and it opens down

OpenStudy (amistre64):

then you have mistyped the equation. I cant determine any specifics if I do not have the actual information to work with.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let me post the whole question again ...

OpenStudy (amistre64):

k

OpenStudy (amistre64):

that one has the equation in it :) you graphing app is either in error, or you mistyped it into the app

OpenStudy (amistre64):

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=x%5E2%2B6x-16

OpenStudy (amistre64):

on that wolf page, where it says "parabola" there is a properties tab that has the vertex in it; further down the page is the "roots" whic are the x intercepts as well
