Would the United States would be better off or worse off if we followed the code of Hammurabi as our law code?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this isn't really a math question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is that..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry but the essay is due tomorrow and i have no idea!!!! im desperate i havent started and google doesnt know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the code of hamarabi stresses a system of an eye for an eye. Therefore, if it was used today this is what would happen. If you chopped off someone's arm you wouldnt get a trial and a judge but someone would chop you arm off. Also, there is a class system back then where a noble man back then would get a less severe penalty than a commoner. I would personally not want to live in this system in the US

try getting some more info on the hammarabi code on wikipedia before you start your essay http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_of_Hammurabi

This is to get you started dont use it as your main source

Thank you so much, I don't want to disturb you typing right now becuase you're actually the sweetest and nicest person in the world!!! This is a great starting point and if you have any more ideas, please let me know! The only thing im confused about, what do you mean by an eye for an eye?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here is a example: 197. If he has broken the limb of a patrician, his limb shall be broken. from http://www.commonlaw.com/Hammurabi.html

Oh, okay I get it thanks again!! BTW, I have to write an essay for this, could I use what you wrote in my essay? Thanks again babe :*
