What transformations change the graph of (f)x to the graph of g(x)? f(x) = x² ; g(x) = (x + 7)² + 9 The graph of g(x) is the graph of f(x) translated to the down 7 units and right 9 units. The graph of g(x) is the graph of f(x) translated to the up 7 units and left 9 units. The graph of g(x) is the graph of f(x) translated to the right 7 units and down 9 units. The graph of g(x) is the graph of f(x) translated to the left 7 units and up 9 units.

thanks (;

check again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait what ?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

g(x) = (x + 7)² + 9 i see the transformation : left 7 units, and up 9 units

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

the number attached to x gives u the left/right transformation

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

the number floating outside gives u the up/down transformation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok , thanks (:

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

its a good idea to interpret them in geogebra as well

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

just plot both the graphs, and see whats happening. good luck :)
