Find the difference
|dw:1349662901071:dw|
Combine like terms
polynomials...im needing to subtract these. i get confused on the negs n pos
Ok if you are to find the difference then you need to distribute the negative sign throughtout the second expression, is the second expression -7x^3-6x^2-9x-6???
yes
If so the it should look like this -(-7x^3-6x^2-9x-6) Once you distribute the negative sign you will get 7x^3+6x^2+9x+6 then combine like terms with the first expression. Does that make sense?
no
ok, now i see
do i do the same for the other
no, you should get: 5x^3+7x^2-6x+9+7x^3+6x^2+9x+6 can you combine the like terms from here?
i got 12x^3+13x^2+3x+15
is that right
yes, do you understand what we did?
yes, but when i plugged it into my webassign, it said it was wrong
What is the full question for the problem?
find the difference and its set up like i wrote it
we used the correct methods to come up with our answer so either the web assign is wrong or the problem is set up differently.
i'll ask my teacher tomorrow, thank u for helping
no problem. if you can post what the teacher says on here, i'm curious. thanks
ok
