How do you find the quotient and remainder of -111/11?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

111 divided by 11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how many times does eleven go into 111?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10 times

OpenStudy (anonymous):

with 1 left over right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since there is a negative out front, the answer would be -10 r1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But the answer on the back of my books says that the Quotient is -11 and the remainder is 10. And it is for the division of -111/11.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have not idea how they got that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm what kind of math class are you in?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
