A store mixes Kenyan coffee worth $11 per kilogram and venezuelan coffee worth $14 per kilogram. The mixture is to sell for $12 per kilogram. Find how much each should be used to make 276 kilo.
Kenyan Coffee, $11/kilo--> amount needed is "k" Venezuelan coffee, $14/kilo--> amount needed is "v" k + v = 276, so v = 276 - k $11k + $14v= $12(276) Using these two equations that we got from the information given... We can solve for k 11k + 14(276-k)=12(276)
ok so after i do that then what?
You need to isolate k, meaning get it all by itself. The first step is distributing 14 to 276 and -k.
do you need more specific help?
11k + 14(276-k)=12(276) 11k + 3864 - 14k=3312 11k-14k=3312-3864 -3k=-552 k=-552/-3 k= 184 kilograms of Kenyan coffee needed for the mixture v=276-184 v=92 kilograms of Venezuelan coffee needed for the mixture
