The senior classes at High School A and High School B planned separate trips to the local amusement park. The senior class at High School A rented and filled 1 van and 14 buses with 853 students. High School B rented and filled 10 vans and 7 buses with 550 students. Each van and each bus carried the same number of students. Find the number of students in each van and in each bus.

1x+14y=853 10x+7y=550 then find for x and y is that correct?

multiply the first equation by 10 then subtract equation 2 from it
