Mothers who were unresponsive, insensitive, and coldly rejecting were associated with ___________ attached infants. securely avoidant ambivalent disorganized/disoriented slow-to-warm-up
It's avoidant. Someone with an avoidant attachment style believes that their needs for closeness and intimacy cannot be met. They go through their life expecting to be rejected. So, they develop their own pattern of emotional distancing, in order to avoid closeness. Many psychologists believe that parental care has a heavy influence on the attachment styles that we develop later on. A mother who is unresponsive, insensitive, and cold is already sending a message to her child. One that says, "Your emotional needs are not important, and ought to be rejected. This is the way that life works."
