here are the answer choices Choose one answer. a. 7.5 b. 22.5 c. 15 d. Cannot be determined

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the actual question?

OpenStudy (helder_edwin):

what r we supposed to do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh im sorry hold on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

From the information given in the figure, what is AC?

OpenStudy (helder_edwin):

is there more information or just what's on the picture?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just wats in the picture

OpenStudy (helder_edwin):

is there a relation between the two lower triangle? in particular, is there a relation between 2x+3.5 and 3x+1.5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It doesn't look like AC depends at all on the bottom half of the triangle...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Prove PAC and BAP are congruent triangles. Then you can figure out what AC is.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know how to do those things its my first time learning this on online school i need steps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they have 2 sides that are congruent right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, BP is congruent to CP, and the vertical side AP is congruent with itself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah okay. So side BP and PC are congruent because it is given by the marks. and angle BPA and CPA are right angles therefore they are also congruent . AP is congruent to AP because of the reflexsive property. Therefore triangle APB is congruent to triangle APC. Therefore AB is congruent to AC. AC= 15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, @Chocolatechocolatechip is correct. You don't actually have to prove it for this triangle, but that reasoning is correct. AC corresponds to AB, and since the 2 triangles are congruent, AC must be congruent to AB, so AC = 15.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

omgeee u broke tht down so well and i completely understand it!! thanks so much!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Chocolatechocolatechip what do I do to find DB? do i put the 2 equations equal to each other?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do the same thing, prove the two smaller triangles are congruent. They are congruent by Side-angle-side. Therefore the sides BD and CD are equal. Therefore 2x + 3.5 = 3x + 1.5. find x and then input x back into the equation to find BD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohk i will let u kno what i get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay. =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 2 @Chocolatechocolatechip

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x= 2. Then put 2 into the equation. so it would be 2(2) + 3.5
