In what ways is the Holy Land an important site for all three monotheistic faiths?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Holy Land is the home to sites that have significant religious importance to Jews, Christians, and Muslims alike. This is particularly true of Jerusalem where incredibly important shrines to all three major monotheistic faiths are found. Part of the city itself is even divided along religious designations such as the Muslim Quarter, Christian Quarter, and the Jewish Quarter. For the Jews, there's the Wailing Wall and the Temple Mount. For the Christians, it is where Christ preached to the people and where the Holy Sepulchre is located. For the Muslims, there is the Dome of the Rock marking the place where it is believed Muhammad was taken to Heaven.
