I'm running Fedora (17) and it too defaults to installing Python 2.7.3, but the quickstudy materials tell me not to use it - rather, 2.6. I'm trying to install 2.6 from a tarball in /usr/local/bin but haven't succeeded it yet. Are there major problems with using 2.7.x?
