Why rain falls as drop of water.

there is gap, because all droplets are not of same size/volume, so gravity is maybe different for different droplets...hence the gap,so yes...

air resistance will provide upward force , hence the exact shape is not like a drop , but something like this....
and if its more ,that drops splits into 2 or more.....
