WHY IN WATER CONDENSERS, THE WATER INLET IS AT LOWER END WHILE THE OUTLET IS AT OUTER END??

There are two reasons for this 1.This is a cross current mode of heat transfer & 2.Retention time of cooling water will be more in this case.That means in both helps in comparatively better heat transfer efficiency.
