Question

Need help on a short story about not belonging.

Initially, I was going to write a story about a man who is eventually forced to leave his house and go to a nursing home. But it failed. Since, i couldn't come up with a legit complication and I didn't know what to write after that.

So anyone have ideas for a story about not belonging? It can be about anything that has a good complication and realistic.

Some help would be appreciated! :)

How bout a story about a boy who is new in town and trying to fit into a new school and make new friends? The conflict could come from the fact that he is from a different type of school... maybe immersion, or parochial... perhaps he is from a different country and his parents are missionaries. While writing your story, even if its of the nursing home.. he could be forced to move into the nursing home, the complication or conflict could be the money it costs and the funding by medicare does not cover him because he owns a piece of land that he was saving for his grandchildren. As long as you move the story around by conflict.. and the conflict doesnt have to be intense all the time. What are the reasons your character is going to the nursing home? maybe its that he cannot see anymore.. well there are quite a few ideas that can stem from that concerning conflict.. what about he is seriously overweight? How bout his personal feeling regarding the move... perhaps he is being forced there by his family and is hard nosed to live at home.
