Find the midpoint of the line segment whose endpoints are (7, 5) and (7, 11).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since the two points are on the same line you can do something easier: Find the distance between the two y coordinates (6) and divide by two. The midpoint then is (7, 5+3) or (7, 11-3), both the same answer.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

jazy, the distance formula is not the midpoint formula :/

OpenStudy (amistre64):

simplest thing to do is just add the points together and divide in half

OpenStudy (amistre64):

(7, 5) + (7, 11) --------- (14,16)/2 (14/2 , 16/2)

My bad, sorry for the confusion!
