Fundamental capitalist rule: "You get what you pay for."  What have you paid for the quite valuable time of people who know what they're talking about?

You don't always have to pay in money, by the way.  Asking interesting questions, which are fun to answer, can be "payment" of a sort.  Presenting your question thoughtfully, so it's easy to answer, can be payment.  So can being gracious -- which, alas, does not exactly include publishing excoriating comments.
