Which phrase matches the algebraic expression below? 2(x + 7) + 10 Two times the sum of x and seven plus ten Two times the difference of x and seven plus ten Two times x minus seven plus ten Two times x plus the sum of seven and ten

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Once again, I'll try to illustrate each for you. Hopefully these will start to make sense after doing a few. 1. 2(x+7) + 10 2. 2(x-7) + 10 3. 2x-7+10 4. 2x + (7+10) Another key word I look for is "Sum". So when they say "Two times the sum of...", in your mind you should think: 2( ___ + ___ ) Same thing with difference. "Two times the difference of..." 2( ___ - ___ )

this one is confusing XD I wont be able to solve it but I will try my best :) for now I will just wait for u XD thanks so much for the help ^O^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Always best to give it a shot, and then ask for help. Good luck with the rest and enjoy!

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

I think its A :D

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

Is that right? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha yes! What you wrote for the problem and what I put for the first answer are exactly the same, of course they are the same silly!

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

oh god I just noticed that *facepalm* yep I really need to pay more attention to these things XD thanks so much drew ^O^

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

can u check this answer for me? :) its a quick question ^-^

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

It says: Seth's age can be described as 4 less than 2 times his cousin's age. If his cousin's age is represented by the variable "m", write the algebraic expression representing Seth's age using "m".

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

My answer: Algebraic expression representing Seth's age using "m": 2m - 4

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

what da ya think? :D
