A second front to liberate France. The leader of the USSR, Joseph Stalin, had been pressuring the Western Allies to open a second front to take the pressure off of the Soviets for years and it was only until 1944 that the Allies finally had all the pieces together to do it.

The "phantom army" plan was actually real, but it was called Operation Bodyguard. The atomic bomb was the Manhattan Project, and Operation Husky covered the invasion of Sicily as a prelude to the Italian campaign.

The June 6th invasion was the largest amphibious and air assault at that time ! Because of the foothold on the Normandy coast the allies were able to secure a bridge head to bring supplies and launch a major attack on the axis powers!
