Solve the absolute value inequality: |x - 6| > 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hi dats. do you still need help with this one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k. well, if you had |x|>2, what would the solutions be? hint: there are two

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Make two equations |x-6|>2 and |x-6|<-2 and then solve. x>8, and x<4 are your answers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it might be confusing to you here. in his haste, legend forgot to remove the absolute value signs. you do make two equations. they are x-6>2 and x-6<-2. solve those and you get the solutions you seek.

do you have any questions dats?
