a horizontal force of 5.0 newtons accelerates a 40kg box, from rest at a rate of 0.50m/s^2 to the right. what firction force acts on the box?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Refer to F=ma: The acceleration must be the result of the given force minus the frictional force which by definition must oppose the given force. This yields: F-ma=f Where F=5.0 N , m=40 Kg, a=.5 m/s^2
