Yay algebra! \[19-4x=9\] Add 4x to both sides to get \[19=9+4x\] Subtract 9 from both sides (to isolate x, that is, to get all the x's on one side and all the numbers on the other side) to get \[10=4x\] And because we want to know what 1x equals, not 4x, we divide both sides by 4 to get:
