how to find dimensions of physical quantity?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me tell u an example... suppose u need to find the dimension for velocity.. velocity=displacement/time taken and we know tht there exist 3 dimensions (mass, length and time) the dimension for displacement is of length (L) and for time it is (T) therefore dimension for velocity wuld be L/T=LT-1(T to the power minus one)
