Is it sqrt(x) -8 or sqrt(x-8)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sqrt(x-8)

So, the same argument of the sqrt for the first function is increased in 12 units, Now that means that to get the same result as before, you need to put an x 12 units less than what you had to put before, to counterbalance the 12 units you added.

Are you able to see the answer from that?
