sure, so if i owe you 2 dollars, i have - 2 dollars right? if i owe you 11 dollars, i have -11 dollars. in which case do i have more money? when i owe you 2 or when i owe you 11

the answer is when i owe you 2. because i only have to give you 2 dollars and i keep the rest, whereas when i owe you 11, i have to give you 11 dollars :(

same with the temperature, when its -2 its cold, but -11 is really cold!
