how do i simplify 3x+4(5x+2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

leave 3x where it is, do 4 times 5x and then add 4 times 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

type what you get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x+20x+8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

brilliant. now you want to get one x term. notice how both 3 and 20 are multiplied by x? wells make a bracket around 3 and 20 and times it by x...\[x(3+20)+8\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you follow that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea thx!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay and just add 3 and 20 which you probably have and you get \[23x + 8\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea thx so much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem
