The ancestors of elephants inhabited every continent except Antarctica and Australia. But the Asian and African elephants are the only ones to survive. Why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I couldn't tell you for 100% positive, but I would answer with Evolution. Based on survival of the fittest, the Elephants that died off in other continents would not have been suited to find food, or fight of predators, or survive their climate, etc. Whereas in the continents of Asia and Africa, they will have been better equipped for those situations.

African and Asian elephants adapted to their environments. (For those looking back on Plato)
