(x+9)^2 and also (y-9)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x+9)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it the answer x^2+18+81

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x+9)(x+9) Just FOIL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(y-9)(y-9) FOIL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it is x^2+81

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would the other one be -81 when it starts with a -9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your answer is still not correct. Your missing one more number in the middle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the 18 goes in the middle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The reason for that is because your problems are both minus, if its one minus on plus than the middle would cancel out. Yes the 18 would go in the middle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

both 81 would be positive not negative because the signs are the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the it were like -9 * 9 than it would be -81

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it is the same answer for both of them x^2-18+81

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No not for both. Just one little thing change about them in the middle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one is positive and other is negative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep! you got it =]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

One 18 should be positive and the other should be negative.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x+9)^2 x^2+18+81

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep thats right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you forgot the x on the 18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok but that is the right answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea its right. Thats what I got.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help with one more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x - 3)(x + 3) (Points : 3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now this one is just like the previous two but for this one the middle part of it would cancel out because one is positive and the other is negative.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

give me your answer and I will check it for you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^2+9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it will not be +9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-9- srry wrong answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because when you foil the last part you multiply -3 * 3 = -9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you for all your help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep now you got it right. =3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No Problem. Glad to help. Hope you understand these types of problems better now. :3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i am starting to i just second guess my self on sum of them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I do that sometimes too. lol .
