The length of a pole's shadow varies directly with the pole's height. If the shadow is 8 feet is 8 feet long and the pole is 6 feet high, how long would the shadow of 30 foot pole be?

The height of the 30 foot pole is 5 times as much as the 6 foot pole, and since the length of the shadow varies directly with height, we know the length of the shadow of the second pole is also 5 times as large. 5 x 8 = 40 ft
