Is there anyway on here that someone can check to see how far away you are from going up to the next level?
Only admins know. The information that admins know is classified.
That is untrue^ Not even Admin's know, they have said that there's no specific amount of things you do till you level up, its just staying active. i could be wrong but this is what i last saw a Admin say.
I'm pretty sure the SmartScore has something to do with other users.. so there really isn't a set number of medals or whatever til you level up. It depends on your peers. I think.
@shadowfiend @satellite73
when you've become a very long time user in OpenStudy, you can easily estimate how much you need. It's all about experience
@ilikephysics2 Do not @ mention admins and moderators in this forum. To answer your question, no. We have no idea how much of a change would be required in your individual raw score to trigger a change in smart score. And that value changes constantly based on the activity of other users. It's not just a level, it's a relative scale.
Farm, now you're lying. Admins control everything behind the scenes. They put the coding in progress and can even change or edit the SmartScore. An admin can easily go look at the statistics of the SmartScore. You expect me to believe that the admins don't even know the coding that they created? Ok.
First of all, if you're going to call me a liar, have the courage of your conviction to do it from your primary account. The amount of points required to progress from one SmartScore to the next changes constantly as users move in (and out) of the various populations that make up the SmartScore calculation. So, to answer your question, no. I have no idea at any given time how many raw points are required to progress from one SmartScore to the next. The computational complexity required to calculate that change, as often as it happens, and push that change to every active user on the site, as often as it happens, is so great that it's not worth putting in a mechanism that would allow us to do that. So, we don't. So, my original statement "To answer your question, no. We have no idea how much of a change would be required in your individual raw score to trigger a change in smart score." is entirely truthful. Do we know the mechanics of how the calculation from raw score to SmartScore is made? Sure. Could I manually calculate the number of and exactly what actions you need to do to reach the next SmartScore? Probably. But by the time I ran the numbers manually, my answer would no longer be correct. The actions of other users, the size of the SmartScore genpop, and a few other factors all influence this calculation on the fly.
1. This account is my more outspoken account. It's not that you, "can't know," but rather you don't posses the capability to know. As the admin of a similar site with similar rankings, I can insure you that it is more than possible to calculate such things.
I'm not trying to offend you, but you did tell a white-lie. I mean, you could, but you can't.
I never said we can't know...
Pardon me. My argument was that it is possible. I'm sorry for calling you a liar, I took it as you were saying, "There is no possible way of knowing," I now understand what you meant.
