(4x - 3)2 = 121

OpenStudy (anonymous):

need help with this problem (4x - 3)2 = 121 thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8x-6= 121 8x=127 x=127/8 x=15.875 like this maybe?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(4x-3)^{2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or is it that?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

take square root of both sides: 4x - 3 = 11 or 4x -3 = -11

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

i've assumed its (4x - 3)^2

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

if its times 2 then donclux has got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ill write the other one too :) in a sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@cwrw238 yes this is correct (4x-3)^2=121

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@donciux123 , looks correct but what are the steps that you use to work out the problem this way i know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(4x-3)^{2} =121\] \[16x ^{2} -24x + 9 = 121\] \[16x ^{2} -24x +130\] \[D=(-24)^{2}- 4*16*130=576 -8320= -7744\] and its imposibruu

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is it the first one or the second one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@donciux123 it is the first one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its like this \[4x*2 - 3*2 = 121\] \[8x -6 =121\] \[8x= 121 +6\] \[8x=127\] \[x=127/8\] \[x = 15,875\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(4x-3)^2 = 121 never seen it written the way you did it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it is the second one.... i wrote that already... but i couldnt solve it ... couse i cant use D :D

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

alternatively 4x - 3 = 11 4x = 14 x = 3.5 or 4x-3 = -11 4x = -8 x = -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh.. forgot about that way :DD |dw:1349961329760:dw|
