What's the difference between first person and third?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First person is when you are saying it from your point of view. Ex. "I played in the park today" or "I'm tired, I'm going to take a nap." Third Person is when its "he" and "she", so for example. Ex. "She played in the park today." or "She was tired, she is going to take a nap."

You can think of the first person as being from within, i.e. a subjective view. In film or a game it is a camera view that makes the viewer "see" the world from their perspective because the camera is place at head level and points out like eyes. The 3rd person view is the other, or objective view. In film again, a camera view where you see the scene from a perspective outside of the characters in the narrative. Does that help?
