How many subsets does set A have if the set A has 3 elements?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What does set A consist of?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's the question . it doesn't say

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm... can't help you but maybe Igrim will I'll still around to see their response

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that doesn't affect the number of subsets. if you have three different objects, how many combinations of objects can you create? no objects is one option (that is the empty set), one object is another choice...does that help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no , cause the answer is either 3, 6, or 8 /:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[2^n\] where \(n\) is the number of elements in the set

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i wasn't giving you the answer, think about what i said, each set cooresponds to a choice of the three objects if I have a cell phone, a box, and a table, i could take none of them (that's one set), i could take a table (that's another set), etc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so a set of 3 elements will have \(2^2=8\) subsets

OpenStudy (anonymous):

satellite, you really shouldn't give answers but they're correct.
