OpenStudy (chrisplusian):

a football is kicked and it takes 4.4s to hit the ground. What is the maximum height the ball reaches? assume the ball starts at ground level

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the meters or inches per second? you need that info to tell its hight...

OpenStudy (chrisplusian):

not given

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ummmm well then you only get the time its up not the distance or the mps and u have to find height thats not fun at all let me ask my math teacher

OpenStudy (chrisplusian):

it has to do with kinematic equations from physics.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

coool im taking physics next yr my physics teacher says its just 2.2seconds up from the ground...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it multiple choice or homework?

OpenStudy (chrisplusian):

It is homework. I have the solution but the 2.2 seconds is not a legitimate answer. It is not an algebra problem that you just plug into. It doesn't give you a function. Instead you have to use the fact that acceleration due to earths gravity is approximately -9.8 seconds per second and use the kinematic equations of motion to find the other variables like initial and final velocity to determine the distance

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o ok haha i would have nvr got that
