help on number 20? I need to write a function rule relating x and y.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just write a linear function :) \[f(x)=y=mx+b\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer would be in slope intercept form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so find the slope of the line which you should get -2 and then plug that and one of the set of points (lets just choose \((1,-5)\)) into \(y-y_1=m(x-x_1)\) and solve for y :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when you solve for y, yes :) ....and f(x) just means function of x which is really just y but you need to write f(x) since the question asks for a function :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

howd you get -2 as the slope? i just got 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[{{-5--3}\over{1-2}}~~~={{-5+3}\over{1-2}}~~~={{-2}\over{-1}}~=~2\]apologies, yes thats what you should get, sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahah its okay(: and thanks! i got f(x)=2x-7

YUP! :D
