Enlightenment philosophers strongly influenced political thought. In which of the following documents are their ideas best reflected? A. The Wealth of Nations B. Magna Carta C. English Bill of Rights D. Declaration of Independence *** My answer: D. Declaration of Independence
i'm not too sure about this one... please explain??? =D thanks!!
hmm i'd say the bill of rights too, not too familiar with the other ones
but D sounds right
wait so D is my answer?? why is the bill of rights also correct?? and I'm not too sure why D. is correct lol :/ can u pls explain?? i'm a bit confused at my reasoning and stuff :/
oh wait...lol i read C when I meant D...my bad
wait so what? what did u mean?? lol ;/
I'm not too sure on this one, but D sounds like the right answer
D?? Declaration of independence??? :O
I definitely think A is out because that's a book on economics and stuff
yes I think so
i think b
why B?
and C is out because?? I'm confused :(
it can't be b (not 100% sure though) i think it can't be b because the age of enlightenment started at around 1650 but the magna carta was written in 1215
nah i am not sure this was like 4 years ago i could be wrong i remebr about this in class
ohh and c is out b/c ??
so A (wealth of nations) and B (Magna carta) are out... and u said C (english bill of rights) is out as well... how come?? idk why and would like to understand :)
hmm idk can't find a good reason to eliminate C, so C could be the answer
idk :( i confused :(
well no one perfect so try it, go with c it could be it
in the english bill of rights are rules that strongly influenced our bill of rights and constitution so C is important They want to know which one is the *best* answer
idk :(
which answer choice seems better??
Tough one. I don't think we can rule out (A) yet. (D) is pretty strong, though.
A? but @jim_thompson5910 said it was a book about economics and stuff?? idk I'm sooo confused :(
bro just go with what ever you feel right about
I'm extremely indecisive :( and I'm confused as well which makes this hard for me to choose :(
Enlightenment is about empiricism, scientific thought, rejecting ancient dogma, etc. Adam Smith wrote Wealth of Nations and was influential in the Enlightenment movement. We're talking John Locke, Voltaire, Newton, etc. I'm leaning most strongly towards Declaration of Independence because the American Revolution was a major result of Enlightenment ideals.
HMMMMMMMM This is like 8 years ago >(
I'm willing to side with @jim_thompson5910 ('cause he's a pretty smart guy) and also because of the wording of the question: it specifically mentions "political thought."
so ur saying yes to wealth of nations?? or no?? :/ or are you saying yes to D. declaration of independence? idk I'm getting confused :(
so it's D? =D
I'm saying "yes" to Wealth of Nations as being a result of Enlightenment thinking, but because of that keyword, "political" - I'm leaning more towards DoI.
by looking at this it started early 1700's. Which means the bill of rights should be out(1777 I believe that was).
D also should be oyut since that's 1776.
@nincompoop that was the declaration of independece right? :)
I'm not sure about the other 2 tho
*independence
@KonradZuse ?? 1776 is post-Enlightenment era, why wouldn't documents of that time be influenced by Enlightenment thinkers?
Oh I read the question wrong HAHA.
so @nincompoop ur saying C. english bill of rights is out? :D
or is it in?? idk haha
ohhh i see :)
I say B.
Magna Carta? @KonradZuse How does that make sense?
B?? i thought magna carta did not apply here?? since it happened waaaayyy earlier than enlightenment and did not agree with it as much as the others??? idk :/
I say B because no one else said it.
I'm sticking with my answer.
i said it
Magna Carta c. 1200 Age of Enlightenment c. 1600-1800 ...
Ok I go with E then.
sooo do y'all think D is the answer then??? :) declaration of independence??
cuz im sooo confused... do u think D would apply??
Wiki did say something about DOI
lol @KonradZuse haha i wish i could just choose E haha
E: None
I think it's pretty clear now too. The time frame, the keywords, the impact..
@nincompoop u said choice C was out right???
@CliffSedge what do you mean??? are u saying D is the answer?? or is something else the answer??
SURVEY SAYS...... A.
@KonradZuse im confused now.. didn't we eliminate A?
Konrad is doing a good job of testing confidence, I like it . . . :-)
Good choices are a matter not of weighing the evidence, but rather of eliminating bad explanations.... "The owl of Minerva flies at dusk." There is nothing more I can say here.
The crow howls at midnight.
btw Heart, I would love to help you whenever you tag me, but I'm mostly good at recent history, Math, Physics, and Computer Science :P.
Actually, I can say one more thing, "saru mo ki kara ochi"
okay, thank you soooooo much for the help!!! :D but i think i will just choose D :) thanks tho!! :D y'all are the best!!! :D and @KonradZuse thank you :) @nincompoop thanks for coming :) @CliffSedge thanks for helping :) @jim_thompson5910 thank you sooo much!! @jr-pop16 thanks!! and i hope i didn't forget anybody lol :) but yeah thanks but ima just go with D :)
thanks again!!! :D and awww thanks @nincompoop i really hope D is the answer :)
If it's not then Cliff has to help me with stats tomorrow. If it is then cliff has to help wiht me stats on Monday.
lol u funny :)
lol u funny :)
Well according to Wikipedia, it's between either Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights. So between the two, I'd have to go with Declaration of Independence.
Omfg you sho=uld have been here last night.. Iw as helping people with comp sci and then went to do my stats quiz due in an hour and all of a sudden Open Study started lagging hardcore.
TuringTest and I were ahving a field day :P.
Got an 80 ftw.
If this was a "Who wants to be a millionaire" question, I'd pick D, final answer.
haha alright :) thanks everybody :)
Did I just get drafted?
yes.
Splendid.
