Decide if the maxim applies to politics, society, family life, social and private morality, business.
Give an example of the maxim working in today's society. This will show your understanding of the meaning of the proverb.
Examples:

"He that lieth down with dogs shall rise up with fleas." Private morality. For instance I had a friend who decided to hang out with kids smoking cigarettes and cutting class but she said it wouldn't affect her. In a couple weeks, she was smoking and cutting class too."

"A Lie stands on one leg, the truth on two."  Private morality.   Everytime I find myself caught up in a lie everything becomes unbalanced and extremely difficult. However, if I just tell the truth from the beginning then everything is balanced out.
