Group theory? To prove something is a group? (Abstract Algebra)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i thing it might be a part of abstract algebra...but i m studying this subject by the name of group theory

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To show set G is a group under operation * (star) (1) Associative (2) Identity (3) Inverse Further more, if G is communitive ab=ba, then the group is Abelian.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i want to get the notes of group theory(abstract algebra in ur words) if u know the best notes for this subject, send me link if u can..... your ans is a basic concept and i m already familiar with it...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sets are the collections of objects. The difference between sets and groups is whether it is closed under some operation *(star). For example, integers Z is a group under addition(+).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can also think is this way: group is a self-complete operation set. Like Z, 1+1=2 in Z. 2+3=5 in Z.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and that operation is called binary operation - a function that assigns each ordered pair of elements in group an element of group. or f(a,b)=c which a, b, c are all in the group.

thanks for all this...but you misunderstand my que..i just want online math notes for this subject

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
