Generally when writing an ionic equation, do you write the ions with the coefficients that they had in the molecular equation? Example: would it be correct to write 2HClo4 as the ions 2H+ and 2ClO4-

essentially, yes. you have to be careful with polyatomic ions, but you are generally correct.
