How many integers are there between 130 and 240

OpenStudy (anonymous):

240-130

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1

OpenStudy (calculusfunctions):

The number of integers between 130 and 240 inclusive?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 111 is that right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

between means 130 and 240 are not included...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes -.-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so subtract 2 -.-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have another one its how many are between 0 and 240

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this question is confusing i can already tell -.- kashan is thinking of integers in digit places

OpenStudy (anonymous):

109 was right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and i'm thinking of simply integers as the whole -.- i think it's best to say your teacher sucks -.-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes then 109 is the answer...

OpenStudy (calculusfunctions):

The number of integers from a to b are given by b - a + 1. The number of integers between a and b (not including a and b) are given by b - a - 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need help with another one please

OpenStudy (calculusfunctions):

Did you understand what I said? The formulas?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So which one would i be using to find the integers between 2 numbers

OpenStudy (calculusfunctions):

Do you mean 1300 and 240 are included in the count or do you mean just between. Read my explanation.

OpenStudy (calculusfunctions):

*130

OpenStudy (calculusfunctions):

If you mean between 130 and 240 (not including 130 and 240), then you use the second. Thus b - a - 1. Therefore 240 - 130 - 1 = 109

OpenStudy (calculusfunctions):

@fhchick4life, are you still there? Do you understand?
