2x + y = 10, solve for y to get the equation of the line.
you get y = -2x + 10, since the coefficient of x is negative, the slope will be negative.
remember y = mx + b, where "m" is the slope, that's why it's a negative slope.

Now plug in your values for x to get your y values using y = -2x + 10,

when you have a y value, but no x, just solve your original equation for x and plug in for y

therefore, y = -2(-2) + 10 which is y = 14
