How do you synthetically divide (6x^3+10x^2+x+8)/(2x^2+1)?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

there may be some special technique I don't know about to use synthetic division here, but usually that is reserved for dividing a polynomial by the form \((x-a)\) here I would do regular polynomial division

I don't recall ever doing synthetic division, but I'm reading the link as a crash course. http://www.purplemath.com/modules/synthdiv.htm
