is this a solution proble in math 175-x=150;25

OpenStudy (calculusfunctions):

You wish to solve for x. Since this is a linear equation, first isolate for x. Do that and show me before we proceed further.

Think of it this way @Mmcs511 "If you have a dollar and 75 cents... then subtract a quarter... are you left with a dollar and 50 cents? ( YES / NO )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

IYes

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

There's your answer. 175 is one hundred and seventy five cents or 1 dollar and 75 cents 150 is one hundred and fifty cents or 1 dollar and 50 cents so to get from 175 to 150 you must subtract one quarter. A quarter is 25 cents. 175 - 25 = 150
