word problem: Kristin spent $131 on shirts.Fancy shirts cost $28 and plain shirts cost $15.If she bought a total of 7 then how many of each kind did she buy?
Start off by defining some variables. So lets set f = number of fancy shirts bought and lets set p = number of plain shirts bought Can you formulate some equations using these symbols?
wait im confused how do u do this problem
e.g. you are told that the total umber of shirts bought is 7. So if you bought 'f' fancy ones, and 'p' plain ones, then we can say that:\[f+p=7\]
ok
now, since there are two unknowns here (f and p), we need two equations in order to solve this.
then how do we solve the problem because it says she spent $131
So, make use of the other piece of information given to you to formulate the second equation
If Fancy shirts cost $28 and you bought 'f' fancy shirts, then what will be the total cost of fancy shirts?
$28
$28 is cost of ONE fancy shirt
so, if you bought 'f' of them, how much would they cost?

It's ok @Chlorophyll, @pinkstick is a new user, so I assume he/she is curious to know how this site works. :)
which shirts did she bought? 7 Fancy shirts or both?
plain or fancy? or just 7 fancy shirts?
